The fashion industry is one that is constantly shifting based on human needs, trends, and historical events. It is a multibillion-dollar global enterprise devoted to the business of making and selling clothes (Major, 2015). The fashion industry includes; the design, manufacturing, distribution, marketing, retailing, advertising, and promotion of all types of apparel including (Major, 2015). Some of the careers associated with the fashion industry include; Store Manager, Sales/Brand Representative, Visual Merchandiser, Editorial Assistant, Personal Assistant, Marketing/Social Media Assistant and PR/Advertising Account Coordinator (Deleon, 2012). Although the fashion industry is considered superficial for many, it is one or the world’s largest and most economically beneficial industries (Joint Economic Committee, 2015).

I am choosing to enter this particular field because I have always been fascinated with the creation and distribution of clothing. Clothing is much more than just a way of dressing. It is a way of expressing a person’s status and can show others how one wants to be perceived. For many, clothing has the power to make a person feel a certain way. Although the sole purpose of the fashion business is to make a profit, the thing that sets this industry apart from the rest is that anybody can be a part of it.
