It is an easy outlet for people to use to get in contact with other sustainable seafood producers and consumers. Also, Facebook allows us to post pictures, videos, and create events. On our Facebook Page I created a section explaining our mission goal for our platform and what we are hoping to get our followers to do which is get involved in using sustainable seafood. For those who have no idea what sustainable seafood is I had linked a video in a post to explain what it is and how not using it is negatively affecting our oceans. I also introduced the Ocean Wise organization to our followers by explaining The Vancouver Aquarium has a program called Ocean Wise, which educates and helps food companies use ocean friendly seafood for their consumers. I also mentioned the benefits of using ocean friendly choices is having a healthy environment for sea animals to live in which will also prevent them from going extinct. The first one I discussed was social identity, if you see yourself as an environmentalist, you are more likely to eat sustainable seafood because you have a concern to protect the environment. Environmentalist have more knowledge about the disadvantages of not consuming sustainable seafood and will be more committed to make a change. Another attitude function is value expressive, which is when being involved with sustainable seafood might reflect your self values and beliefs. For the individual, it is important for them to express their attitude on the main concern. The values are a guide for their own attitude and behaviors, it allows them to have a social affiliation with others. The next one I mentioned was utilitarian, a person who is more practical in their actions to benefit everyone. They know consuming sustainable seafood will help preserve the ocean for the future and generations to come.
