For example, one might get only a small headache after suffering a seemingly minor hit to their head, but as they keep playing they feel themselves becoming dizzy and nauseous, and all of a sudden they are angry for something minuscule. These symptoms, if the athlete does not rest and recover, could last weeks and even months after the player gets a concussion. That applies even more so to women because of their premenstrual phases, when "there 's an abrupt drop in the hormone that could cause a kind of withdrawal that either contributes to or worsens symptoms," as mentioned by Marjorie Snyder in "Girls Suffer Sports Concussions at a Higher Rate Than Boys. Why is that Overlooked?" (Source #4). And of course there are more consequences that can be added to the list for both genders, including memory loss, slowed response to stimuli, and loss of

Currently, there poses a question of how to maintain the enforcement of Anti-concussion protocol. The coaches, players, and athletic trainers all work together to be educated on the signs of a concussion and enforce treatment protocol if concussion is detected. There have been signs of the success in the anti-concussion protocol, as there have been increased reports of concussion with the presence of an Athletic Trainer (Wallace,2017), which means more individuals are being identified and therefore treated before they can undergo further serious injury. Concussions are a very serious, non-visible injury that involves some type of trauma of the brain. In sports, there are higher chances of someone sustaining a concussion. Since concussions are non-visible, trainers and doctors rely on people to report whether they think they may have sustained a concussion or not. All it takes is one concussions not healed and taken care of properly to mess with an athletes normal brain function. Then when it comes to the second concussion on an athlete it’s an even more serious issue because now they are at an even higher risk for brain injuries. So why stop at the third concussion and say this is now a serious matter when an athlete can suffer from only one or two concussions and take the same effects to the brain as an athlete who has had five concussions. As soon as an athlete suffers from more than one concussion they should be evaluated to ensure that they will not suffer from long term brain disorders like depression which can result in doing daily activities like going out and in serious cases of depression result in…

It is plausible that a person’s menstrual cycle may have a correlation with concussions; this correlation is likely because progesterone is a neuroprotective drug that is produced cyclically. Based on progesterone concentration in a person’s body, physicians believe they can predict the course of a person’s concussion. In 2014, Wunderle, Hoeger, Wasserman, and Bazarian published a paper where they try to see if a person’s menstrual phase can predict the outcome of a mTBI. Wunderle, Hoeger, Wasserman, and Bazarian (2014) obtained correlational information from 6 hospitals in the northeast corner of the US. The participating hospitals would pay special attention to women with concussions, and sample blood to determine which menstrual phase each woman was in, and then background…
