Prejudice, stereotypes and discrimination has existed in our world for a long time. These types of practices are used to prove what group is more superior among over another group or an individual (Feenstra, 2013). Today we live in a very cultural and ethnically world that embraces our differences. Because of the different beliefs and social practices that are not considered socially acceptable, people are sometimes discriminated against (Feenstra, 2013). Stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination are similar, but yet very different (Fiske, 2010). The majority of everyone have experience some type of prejudice, stereotype or discrimination in their lifetime and it is one of the biggest issues that we face in today’s society (Feenstra, 2013). What exactly are prejudice, stereotype and discrimination? According to our text, “prejudice is aimed at those from different racial or ethnic groups, those with a particular sexual orientation, or individuals with mental or physical challenges. Prejudice is merely an assumption or guess without having any facts. Stereotypes are beliefs about the characteristics of particular groups or members of those groups. Usually stereotype is followed by discrimination and prejudice and can be very harmful to an individual or group. Lastly, discrimination is negative behavior toward individuals or groups…
