The Eastern Orthodox Church is the second largest Christian church and one of the oldest religious institutions in the world. The Eastern Orthodox Church teaches that it is the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church established by Jesus Christ in his Great Commission to the apostles. It practices what it understands to be the original Christian faith and maintains the sacred tradition passed down from the apostles. Although, the U.S is a secular country, it still protects freedom of religion, and Eastern Orthodox Christians are free to practice their religious ritual. Part of this is the building and construction of Eastern Orthodox churches, in addition to forming parishes that can enhance the Eastern Orthodox community in the American materialistic community. Here in Southern California, there are an excellent examples of spiritually strong Eastern Orthodox churches. One of these churches is Saint Michael Church. It is the church that provides a harmonious and peaceful atmosphere for Orthodox Christians and non-Orthodox Christians, who live in the U.S, and particularly in California. Saint Michael Church represents Eastern Orthodox culture and community, creates strong and binding connections among its followers, and raises awareness about Eastern Orthodox Christianity in the general populace.
