1. Greeley means, that in a premodern world the natural and supernatural exist parallel to one another. People believe that natural events are the result of the supernatural such as, demons, angels and/or God. In the modern world it is about logic and science, people will dismiss the supernatural because its existence cannot be proven such as, miracles, visions, or superstitions. While in the postmodern world everyone has their own thoughts and beliefs on the natural or supernatural, they tend to be more open-minded.
2. Greely means, catholic churches are sacred places where people go to worship God. These churches are beautifully designed, with statues, stained glass windows, religious relics and many votive candles. Greeley means, that God lives everywhere. One does not have to go to church on a specific day or time to receive the grace of God. God lives in us, and through us we will feel his presence. As a child attending prayer groups with my grandmother, I would often feel a sense of warmth throughout the room. My grandmother would say it was the presence of God, an experience many others stated have felt.
4. Greeley describes the Dom as a famous landmark that dominates the city of Koln. The Dom is consider as a holy and sacred place because it was saved by the presence of God, while everything else around it was destroyed. Because the Dom represents a place of worship and is a place of God it will continue to triumph.
5. Greeley states, Catholics are more interested in fine arts because they are educated and live in areas where opportunities are available. Catholics also use fine arts to engage in storytelling, because much of their teachings are told with pictures. A regular churchgoer who worships and is surrounded by religious artefacts might also have an interest in fine
