During the 1950’s it was a luxury to fly, only the rich or businessmen and women could afford to fly, nowadays there are more than 77 international airports in the United States with flights leaving every minute to destinations around the world. (Li, Tao, et al., 1) “I never flew in a commercial plane until the late 90’s, it was too expensive and a hassle to find a flight, it is way different from today where there are more flights and airports to chose from.” (Ready) Airplanes were extremely elite back in the 1950’s, even the stewardesses were approached as elites. Airlines only hired young, single, attractive women, that were a certain weight to serve the passengers of the airplane, they had to take courses on how to serve in sky and were held to high standards. Passengers of the airplane would also dress up, and treat their flight as a formal gathering, the stewardess would serve hot meals and treat the passengers with the highest service. Today, flying is sometimes take for granted, people everywhere across the world fly without blinking an eye. There are male stewardesses who have no schooling, just on job and internet training.
