For instance, the individuals within the Strategic Team, all believe and assume themselves superior to that of the other teams within the company. This 'sub-culture ' exists within certain teams and they are instilled into new agents on the day of their arrival until they themselves think the same way as everyone else within that collective: "Occupational and professional groups that reflect different interests, tastes, and habits" (Gagliardi, 1990). Elsewhere in the company, most agents learn that they have to do whatever it takes in order to hit their target, even if it means pestering decision makers and other unethical tactics in order to ensure that they achieve their monthly targets. This would be an example of the greater organizational culture, which would span across most departments, instead of the sub-culture, which would only be pertinent to a small group of individuals. In addition, another basic assumption within Astute would be that of; 'you get out what you put in '. In other words, if agents start to perform poorly they will be transferred to poor performance teams and almost forgotten about, whereas if agents perform well then managers treat them well and place them into high performance teams. Instead of three levels of culture, they categorise cultures into four main areas: Tough-guy macho culture; Work-hard/play-hard culture; Bet-your-company culture; and Process Culture. Astute would best fall within the ‘work-hard/play-hard’ culture since the company tends to provide high volumes (of leads) and therefore the culture encourages games, meetings, and promotions to help maintain motivation.
