The common core has become an important part to the American education. The common core is “a set of high-quality academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy (ELA). These learning goals outline what a student should know and be able to do at the end of each grade” (About the standards). The common core focuses mostly on the math and language arts, and students must complete a standardized test to see if the students are comprehending the subjects. If the students fail any of those test, they must retake the class until they understand the material. The common core starts in kindergarten to high school; the students in kindergarten to secondary school learn the basic math and English. Once the students get to high school, the common core changes into preparing the students for college or careers (Development process). There are a lot of arguments when it comes to the common core because not a lot of people are a fan of this standard; many parents riot over this because their child is not grasping the material. Parents are not the only ones who dislikes this standard, several teachers also loath this standard because it limits their teaching style and they feel like the standard can be challenging for certain students. There are others who love this standard and feel like this it is a blessing from the gods.
