In this story, you will also hear about his abusive father. Four wants to change his faction from Abnegation, a group of selfless and helpless individuals, because he knows he is Divergent, which is a combination of two to three factions, but the only safe faction for him is Dauntless, which is a group of brave, fearless, and free people, since he can fight back against his father there. Everyone in the world wants to belong. In the two books, The Year of Secret Assignments, by Jaclyn Moriarty (Realistic fiction), and Divergent, by Veronica Roth ( Science fiction), they both develop the theme of how it can sometimes be hard to belong into two different places, but it can sometimes come easily to someone and won’t be a problem at all. To begin, The Year of Secret Assignments, definitely develops that it can be hard for people to fit into a place just because they aren’t accepted, yet the author also develops the theme that it’s easy to belong into two different places but it depends on where you are trying to fit in.
