The Beauty in My Beliefs Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” (Pettinger 1) Every person has a dream, however not everyone can see the value of their dream, or in other words the beauty that can result from accomplishing their dream. I can feel the success, accomplishment, and pride, when I envision myself living my dream. My biggest aspiration is to become a neonatal nurse. Many people have career epiphanies, a moment when a person has a sudden realization of what they are meant to do in life. I experienced my first career epiphany when I was 12 years old. First, I will finish the developmental courses that I am currently taking. Second, I will complete all required prerequisites for HACC’S nursing program. After all prerequisites are complete, I will apply for the nursing program. When I am accepted into the program, I will need to complete clinicals, pass the entire program then I will receive my associates’ degree. Next, I will try to obtain employment in a hospital setting, particularly labor & delivery, if I am unable to find employment in this specialty, I will find work elsewhere, and meanwhile, I will work towards a bachelor’s degree, while specializing in labor and delivery/neonatal care. Ultimately, I will receive my bachelor’s degree with the specialization of neonatal care. Despite the working conditions of nursing, I hold a positive perspective of my future career and view it as being a strenuous, yet more than equally rewarding career.
