The Attributes of God Many Bible scholars are educated in the theological attributes of God and use the works of Spurgeon, Tozer, and Pink, as well as using the Bible itself. These are wonderful resources and should be used when talking about God in a sermon or while witnessing. Using the philosophical approach can also be used in conjunction with these other approaches and should be used to bolster arguments while preaching or witnessing. Starting with the very nature of God, God is above all else, Holy. The holiness of God is spoken of throughout the scripture, from 1 Samuel 2:2 “There is none holy as the Lord” to 1 Peter 1:16 “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy”. The Lord’s holiness shows us that we need to strive to be holy. Philosophically, this shows us that we have a moral standard to uphold and cannot live in a state of moral relativism, throwing that theory out of the window for the Christian. God also possesses the foreknowledge of all things. This means that God knows what happened, what’s happening, and what is going to happen in the entire world. Everything is planned out by God and He knew that Adam would fall in the Garden and He would have to send His Son to be born in Bethlehem. Arthur Pink stated “God foreknows what will be because He has decreed what shall be.” This means that libertarianism is not possible because libertarianism “seem(s) to imply that human actions are the result of chance or are arbitrary in such a way as to undermine…
