The interactionist approach tends to focuses on details of what is going on between individuals there everyday life, and is one of the main theoretic perspectives within sociology. It is the study of how we interact and use symbols not only to communicate with other, but also to maintain and create impressions of ourselves, so that we can make certain sense of self, and to sustain what we have experienced as reality of a particular social situation.

But, for some who show criminal behavior it can be very hard to find out exactly what would be shameful to the criminal. You see for some criminals’ acts or criminal behavior, all it does is give them street credit especially if they are sentenced to jail/prison. Most of the officers within the criminal justice field look for these vises in order to make criminal behavior stop, but that does not always work. So, can it work in the criminal justice system? Well, I believe so, but it will not be an easy task, because some criminals are just like terrorists they are not easy to shame, break or embarrass. Many states are considering using the reintegrative shaming program, but despite the results we just do not have enough states making the change. So, for now we are unable to see the differences in the results as yet. According to Umbreit & Armour, (2011), as the reintegrative shaming and restorative justice grows in popularity, it will likely face many obstacles, because with everything new there will always be some form of resistances within the communities that still think that punitive punishment is the only way.
