“The Adventure of the Speckled Band” Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote about the enigmatic death of a young woman in the foul play, “The Adventure of the Speckled Band.” The mystery takes place in April of 1883, at the Roylott Stoke Moran Manor. The story began when Helen Stoner arrived at the home of the acclaimed detective and medical doctor, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson early in the morning. Helen is distraught; as she was in tremendous angst that she too would meet the dreaded fate that her sister, Julia, did on the eve of the wedding, two years prior. As Helen’s wedding was quickly approaching, she became apprehensive of her abusive stepfather, Dr.Roylott. Dr. Roylott had been known to be a contentious man. Dr. Watson portrayed cooperative traits as he worked with Helen Stoner. Additionally, Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes were both very perceptive; as they were able to conclude that this was indeed a genuine matter. Despite Holmes’s busy reputation as an acumen detective, he made sure to find time to investigate Helen Stoner’s case. Helen Stoner began to inform the men of the suspicious events that had led her into paranoia. She described how on the eve of her sister’s wedding, she died in the middle of the night after mentioning a metallic clang and a speckled band. Julia’s legs gave out as she fell to the ground. Since it had been two years after her death, Helen had been living with the fear that she too would die on the eve of her upcoming wedding. Furthermore, the…
