Utterson’s technique of solving a case is far more tradition as compared to Sherlock’s Holmes methods. Utterson heavily relies on clues and evidence that can point him in the right direction to solve a case. This allows him to further progress in his investigation. While his form of solving a case is based solely on the evidence found it can sometime not be the best way as evidence can sometimes be misleading. Sherlock doesn’t take evidence into accountable as much per say since he feels that evidence could’ve been altered or tempered with, thus leading him to a wrong direction in his case. In the story, Mr. Utterson finds the notes left behind by Dr. Jekyll which point out substantial amounts of clues and hints that lead Mr. Utterson and Mr. Enfield to figure out why and how Dr. Jekyll is connect to Mr. Hyde. Mr. Utterson then goes through the investigation using a step by step approach and takes every single little bit of information to his advantage as he tries to place each detail together. He has obtain such great patience for the case as it involves his dear friend Dr. Jekyll. The strange events that took place allowed Mr. Utterson and Mr. Enfield to continue the pursuit on figuring out the correlation of the two individuals. His overall take on the case is a different approach as he must follow all given clues and data he can find. Mr. Utterson does his best to find answers of the unfortunate events taking place as he feels his friend Dr. Jekyll is in great danger. He isn’t as experienced as Sherlock Holmes but is able to use similar skills that a detective would use to figure out a case.
