10:30 AM on the dot, as the courthouse clock informed me; The reading of the will of Andrew Bixby, a famed explorer and professor of high esteem, would be occurring shortly.
"Excuse me, sir?" A voice from the crowd that had gathered for this event addressed me.
Tracking the sound, I found a well-dressed man approaching, possibly thirty or so years old, with solid black well maintained hair, and a wide mouth from which he spoke again.
"Who might you be?" The man inquired standing before me, his query drawing the attention of most of the individuals within the room.

"David, I have no doubts that you're listening, and you're probably the only one left. However, just in case, Jeremy? Please leave."
The record allowed a great space of silence to fill the room, and after a few seconds, Jeremy did as he was asked. Shortly thereafter, the message picked up again.
"Now, I would like Mr.Holft, my attorney to turn over the object I've left to you" The old man rose from his desk and approached me, handing me a package, with an envelope atop it. As I took it, the distinct sound of coins rattling around inside caught my ear.
"Do you remember this, David? If you don't, perhaps the name Kopesh will jog your memory? Remember? That prince with the third eye and the saber from India? I should hope you remember him, but more importantly, his instructions. Just in case, I've left an envelope with the full details inside. I already succeeded in my bit, as the color of the object itself will show, so now it's up to you. I'm counting on you, old friend."
The record then abruptly halted, and the old man, who I suppose was named Mr.Holft, retrieved the disk. Observing the package, I looked to Mr.Holft.

But even he was taken aback by the scene before him.
What was once a man, was now a mangled heap, with bloody bone-deep lacerations throughout it's entire body, to the point it could scarcely be recognized as anything once living. The only thing still identifiable about this tragedy was it's face, which was frozen in a shape that conveyed absolute horror.
"Jesus Christ.." The inspector whispered, surveying the room the victim was found in just that night. Blood and bile stained nearly every surface of the chamber, with nearly every piece of furniture available broken to splinters.
Just a short time ago, residents at the hotel where this crime took place had called in simultaneously to report the sound of screaming echoing in the halls. When police finally arrived, they found the door unlocked, and the scene that now lay before the inspector.
"Inspector Morgan," One of the many forensic specialists spoke, drawing Morgan's attention. "These are the only two items left undamaged."
