Within “The Veldt” we see many examples of artificial intelligence from the nursery to the dining room table. These technologies prove helpful and practical in many respects, yet they also show threats to everyday life. This is nearly identical to real life in the workplace. Many of our jobs are heavily reliant on artificial intelligence and other forms of technology to complete tasks. For example, many of the jobs in the car industry once held by people are no longer being worked by people for they have become obsolete. In “The Veldt” the home was equipped with technology to the point that the children disregarded their parents and became incompetent. This is much the same in real life. As we become more and more advanced, we are becoming incompetent and obsolete, for we are unable to complete a task as quickly as artificial intelligence or other robotics could.
