There are millions of people in this world and yet nobody knows exactly what will be happening in the next couple of decades. Eric Schmidt and Jared Cohen explain in their article “Our Future Selves” what advancements the world of technology will have in the future. They talk about how the population will be connected through technology, and how they will benefit from each and every invention or advancement. I believe that these two men have a point as to why everyone will be connected. A reason being is because as the years go by more and more people have begun to purchase technology for entertainment or simply because they need it for medical reasons. “...They will find new ways to use the new tools at their disposal to enlarge their businesses, make them more efficient and maximize their profits, as the fisherwomen did much more locally with their basic phones” was one of the statements said by these authors in regards to how technology can improve the business aspect.(221) There are many examples on how technology will improve in the medical field to making sure that our children in America have the best education possible. In the medical field there soon will be a “patch that can collect information about a patient's response to a drug, relay data about regular usage to doctors and even track what a person eats.” (231) As for the education topic students will not have the excuse of “My dog ate my homework” because everything will be assigned and completed on smart phones, laptops, tablets, or other devices. I most definitely agree with the two authors in this particular point of the article because everyday there is people who try to stay healthy. With these advancements soon doctors will be able to “detect early stages of diabetes in your grandfather’s hip.” (230) Although the authors give examples of future technology none of it is backed up with research or a creditable source. They also do not say how those people who cannot afford the assistance will benefit from it. These two things make the audience wonder how are they sure this will be one of the greatest things.
In another field, photography, will also experience advances. This includes a recently married couple who “will be able to re-create their wedding ceremony for grandparents who were too ill to attend.” (229) With this key point I also agree because now we have machines that can print in 3D, but the only thing this lacks to make it credible is it does not have a source to back it up. The authors also do not state none of the disadvantages of a holographic device. They make it seem like it can be easily accessed, but do not describe what difficulties it could
