Teaching is not everyone’s cup of tea. It requires a certain aura, attitude and a particular frame of mind. I was well aware of that fact long before I decided to pursue my Masters in Education and Special Education. I knew about if from observing teachers during my school years in Russia, then in Israel. But even a better idea of what teaching is came to from my 17 years experience of being a mother of 3 children. As I went first with my older daughter and then other kids thru all grades starting in pre-nursery and up to high school, dealing with all kinds of issues and problems; educational, administrative and psychological, I learned firsthand about the advantages and disadvantages of American education system. Of course, coming to school to experience teaching job first hand, gave me a much clearer picture of what is in store for the future teacher. However it did not change my perception drastically, only confirmed some of my original ideas about education and proved me wrong in some minor perception details. I love small children and always wanted to work with them in some capacity, but the fate had it other way and I spend 15 years working in a corporate environment, connected to education field, dealing with computer systems tracking adult education. In 2011 I was able to switch to a different career path and I am hoping to stay on that path for many years to come.
