Tallinger Family Parenting Style Analysis

When my group compared the Tallinger family to the Driver family, there were many differences in their parenting styles that affected the child either negatively or positively. The Tallinger family was a middle class family who brought up their child using a concerted cultivation type of parenting style. While the Driver family brought up Wendy with a accomplishment of natural growth style. As previously discussed, concerted cultivation, in general, is a better way to raise a child compared to the style of accomplishment of natural growth. This is true because the child will develop better language, become more involved and respect their parents more. Usually if a child is treated as an equal to their parents, the child will respect and obey them more because the parents will not be using directives for the most part. These questions are crucial not only to sociology but society as a whole because many times people do not have these types of questions and just take a person’s word for an argument they are making or something they are stating. People should question what they are learning and how it affects them. The so what question is crucial because it can tell us a lot not only about society as a whole but individually. Knowing the difference between concerted cultivation and accomplishment of natural growth is important because it can help people figure out the best parenting style for their child. No parent consciously parents in a concerted cultivation or accomplishment of natural growth. It is something that occurs unconsciously.
