After reading the text, the four goals in which workers build supportive relationships with clients while helping them with their problems are being able to express or change a negative emotional state; since feelings are valid and need to be respected (Mandell & Schram, 2012). When you are helping clients, you should be careful of what is said and not dictate or make them feel worse. Instead, you need to listen to what they have to say without being judgmental of them. The second goal is to increase their understanding of themselves and their situation by learning how to empathize with the clients.
