With the book I am reading in class called, “The Pact”, is about friends forming a pact together and struggling in the ghetto of New Jersey to fulfill their dreams to become doctors. In “The Pact” there are George, Sam, and Rameck achieving dreams with the power of friendship. I find the book worth reading because I can relate to parts of the characters life. The pact formed between George, Sam, and Rameck is a good example of success because of their mindsets. I can relate to it because I understand their struggles in life. Examples of how my life and their lives are relatable, are the homes we lived in and our surroundings. Growing up in the ghetto and hanging out with friends that can influence you to do good or bad in life. In the ghetto of Newark in New Jersey, where the three doctors lived felt unsafe because it was riddled with crime, drugs, and death. A person walking in the street of the ghetto areas in New Jersey could be robbed, shot, beat up and killed because of thugs. In some parts of Marysville where I live is ghetto and it was similar to the streets of New Jersey where George, Sam and Rameck lived . The broken homes where I lived in Linda are filled with poor families like George, Sam and Rameck. Some broken homes was missing a father that supports a family and be a good role model. With a broken home it makes George, Sam, Rameck and me feel more responsible growing up. With our parents working hard to support us, we feel responsible to get a job and a good education. To be successful and to achieve their dreams in the ghetto was hard but with the opportunities that George, Sam, and Rameck experienced was the power of friendship.
