1. In Just Don’t fall by Josh Sundquist, there is a clear turning point in the story, when Josh learns he has cancer. The whole book revolves around Josh adapting and fighting Ewings sarcoma. His life as a cancer victim began at the young age of 9. At the age of 10, his left leg had to be amputated. As an amputee his life became very restricting, not being able to play soccer like he wanted too, couldn’t play with his his friends like a young child wants to. This amputation brought hardships to not only himself but his family. Spending days and weeks in the hospital at a time, in a state of constant worry. Psychologically, there were times when Josh suffered from depression and needed therapy, he also suffered from a loss of identity. All of this took place because of his cancer.

Laughing is healthy because it is a relief from the hard times of life no matter how brief it is. Josh tried to always find a way to enjoy life even when it seemed impossible.

“In other words, there are times when telling an outright lie may be the most loving thing a person can do. So I smile. As if I’ve just realized for the first time, thanks to your insight, Dad, that my race today was fantastic. As if I am proud of my thirty-fourth-place”. This was important because even though Josh did not win he could still be a winner. He made it further than anyone thought that he could. He made it to the olympics and achieved his dream and raced as hard and fast as he could.
