Without analyzing the meaning of the passage, it appears that Jesus is preaching to his people to live an irresponsible and lazy lifestyle. For example, in Matthew 6:34, Jesus counsels, “Do not be concerned about tomorrow.” Proverbs 6:6 contradicts this verse by stating that the wise should follow the actions of the ant who plans and saves their food far in advance in an orderly fashion. However, the reader needs to take the original context of Matthew 6:25-34 into consideration. There are several other occurrences in Matthew where Jesus says to his disciples, “you of little faith” referring to the people who have anxiety about their life. In Matthew 8:26, Jesus and his disciples are on a boat out in the middle of the sea during a terrible storm. Even though the boat was continuously swamped by waves, Jesus remained asleep until his disciples frantically shook him awake in a panic. Jesus asked his people, “why are you afraid, you of little faith?” Jesus proceeded to stand up and put an end to the winds and sea until it was dead calm
