The Sermon On The Mount In Matthew Vs. Matthew

The Sermon on the Mount is from Matthew chapters five thru seven. It describes how we should live our life in faith. How we should think, how we should speak and the actions we should take in our everyday lives. In this paper I will describe the differences between the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew versus Luke. As well as, the four main purposes the Sermon on the Mount as portrayed in the Gospel of Matthew. It was meant to; expose the people to their sin, guide the followers to Jesus, demonstrate a way to happiness, and to show how to live life the way God wanted his followers to live it. Before I speak on the Sermon on the Mount there are several reasons as to why Luke and Matthew are very similar. The first reason is because both …show more content…
Go into a quiet place and pray to the Lord. These words are already known by the Lord before they are even spoken so do not worry because those who follow correctly will be rewarded. This is one of the many examples in the Sermon on the Mount in which God teaches us the way he wants his followers to live his/her life. This is how God connects the Jewish people to Jewish-Christians. By telling them how to pray, he is giving them an easier way to transfer over since they are used to being told what to do and how do to it by Jewish law. In conclusion, the gospel of Matthew teaches us many things. Through the quotes provided from the Sermon on the Mount, one can see how this was used to persuade Jewish people to become Christians. The Sermon on the Mount teaches the people how they are exposed to their sin. Man are sinners and by saying we can to salvation through God, he must be exposing us to our sins. It also guides the followers to Jesus. If you follow his way he will lead you to a better life and to heaven. Next, it demonstrates a way to happiness for the Jewish-Christians. One who worries about less and follows Gods righteousness, will be given happiness by God. The final point the Sermon on the Mount was to show the way God wanted his followers to live life. Giving the Jewish-Christians structures on how to live made it easy for them to transfer
