Shrieks of laughter reach my ears,
I hide among the branches and leaves,
With joy, my heart beats as fast as can be,
One by one my friends are caught,
And as I watch them, I giggle a lot,
Until finally it’s me who is found,
And the orchard is filled with joyous sounds.
Game over.
But now I watch as our children dash past,
Shrieks of fear... how long will it last?
As they hide, they shudder with every blast,
With fear and panic, their hearts beat fast,
I watch one as she sees her friends shot,
For each friend lost, she cries a lot,
Until finally it’s she who is found,
And the orchard is quiet, not a single sound.
Game over.
