Stem Cell Research Is Unnecessary Essay

Why is stem cell research unnecessary? Why don’t people talk about it much? I honestly think that stem cell research is not needed because it could go the same way as an abortion if not treated right. I can give three reasons why I am against stem cell research. Adult stem cells have limited ability to differentiate from others and are extremely hard to grow for long period in culture, embryonic stem cells may not be accepted when used in transplants because there is no process to generate them, and the embryonic stem cells remain in controversy because the cells are taken from human embryos by disassembling them. I don’t think it’s a good idea to keep this up because the world may not appreciate it. I would first like to explain why adult stem cells have limited ability to differentiate from others and are extremely hard to grow for long period in culture. Like all stem cells, share at least two characteristics. First, they can make identical copies of themselves for long periods of time; this ability to proliferate is referred to as long-term self-renewal. Second, they can give rise to mature cell types that have characteristic morphologies and specialized functions.
