Today, society’s ethics have gone almost completely away. Society justifies that one life lost is okay to lose if it ends up saving thousands. Embryonic stem cell research is exactly that justification. Stem cell research is taking one type of cell and trying to coax it into a different type of cell. Embryonic stem cell research is taking an embryo and coaxing it into becoming a differing type of cell and destroying its chances at becoming a baby. Embryonic stem cell research is unethical and should not be used for scientific research. Embryonic stem cell research starts with a miscarried baby, stillborn baby, aborted baby, or a vitro fertilization. Vitro fertilization comes from left …show more content…
Obstacles like tumor formation, unstable gene expression, and the inability of the cells desired to form the type of tissue desired have occurred. Due to these obstacles many Biotechnology companies have not invested in this research and many scientist tend to focus more on nonembryotic research. Research also says that embryonic is more likely to be rejected than adult stem cells. Many states have put a partial ban on embryotic research. For example federal fuds can’t be used for embryotic research unless the scientist follows The National Institute of Heath’s guidelines …show more content…
Embryonic stem cells have the ability to become any type of cell while the adult stem cell only has the ability to become a limited number of cells. Scientist hope to be able to turn embryonic stem cells into tissues so that they can repair damaged tissues in the body to help repair heat tissues, nerve tissues to repair a damaged spinal cord, or to reverse the effects of Alzheimer’s. Before 2002 adult stem cells were hard to coax into other cells and that is why scientist started embryonic but now some advances have been made and if this research goes well there may not be a need for embryonic stem cell research at all.
Life starts at fertilization. Many scientist would disagree with that statement. They would say “life starts when the heart starts to beat” or “life starts when the embryo develops a brain.” But that’s not what the pope and his Bishops think. The Pope says that “At fertilization is when life begins and the embryo should be treated as a human being from that time on and should not be seen as tissue that can be researched like other tissues.”(Gale). President Bush proposed that scientist to used already destroyed human embryos but that promotes
