Stars Monologue

Up There

Here's the time again when the Sun departs,
The orange sky slowly turns to a black screen
Now the show of the universe starts,
And I wish to watch every little bit of it.

First the brightest of the stars starts appearing
Then comes the faint and the dim,
Blue, Orange and Red stars all shimmering
Arranged in a peculiar way in the heavens above.

Not all those dots we see are stars
Some are planets, some are comets and distant galaxies.
There's Jupiter, Saturn, Venus and Mars,
Moving by the stars, passing through the zodiacs.

Open your eyes and see the Orion hunting the bull,
Sagittarius besides Scorpion, The Bear showing us the north.
Oh! and there are stunning nebulae plentiful
With blazing fireballs on a milky way background.

The chilly night air rushes around, a gentle reminder that it is midnight and the world is sleeping. Looking up, all I see is the vast expanse of night sky. The sky always seems to be hovering above earth, just out of reach, no matter how high humans try to venture. Instead of the black ominously swallowing up the world, it seems to sit contently above. The starlight cuts through the dark, creating an allusion of nearness because of the stars’ unmistakable glow.…

In the first exploration, we explored the opening monologue of the Narrator and the very first scene. This first scene is important as it can be linked to the idea of omnipresence and control of play. In this case, the control is over how social class affects the main characters. This can also relate to Greeks’ idea of Fates who decide the fate of humans for their own pleasure. The Narrator is always there and it is as if he is amused by the actions of Mickey and Edward.…
