The Outsiders Monologue

I Bailey Jaggers was at the hospital with my dad, who had been shot, when I met Ponyboy, Sodapop, and Darry Curtis. They were greasers just like me, and they happened to live right up the street from my house. They were there to see two of their friends, Johnny Cade and Dallas Winston, who had been injured in a fire. My dad is doing really bad and I don’t know how to deal with stuff like this. “I have a son of my own,” I tell the brothers, “ his name is Roman and my wife’s name is Kiana.” I love both my wife and son so much. They have both been helping me through this tough time.
After meeting Pony, Soda, and Darry, I realized they were going through a lot as well. I was there to help support them just as they are supporting me. We have all hung out the past few days. We’re trying to not worry about the bad stuff that is going on. The brothers had just found out how bad Johnny actually was, and that he told the nurse that his mom was not welcome in the room to see him. This hurt me because I’m so close to everyone in my family, and I feel like if I was in his condition I would welcome all my family. Johnny’s case is different because his family did not care for him. This is why he chose not to see them.
The next day I found out that my dad was getting worse and he may not get better. Right about the same

Everyone looked very concerned. Darry asked Pony what was wrong and I could tell he didn’t want to say. I chimed in and said “While we were at the hospital we got news that Johnny was dead. Dally took the news roughly and ran away.” Darry then said, “ Oh my gosh Ponyboy I’m so sorry,” he also said, “ Bailey do ya’ll have any clue where Dally went?” I told him that neither of us knew where he went, but we thought he might get into some trouble. A few minutes later we got a call and it was from Dally. He told us that he had just robbed a store. He asked if we would meet him at the park because the police were after

I believe that the Curtis family were not official greasers or socs before their parents died. Although I also believe that they did live in the area of which greasers live and they had relations with them. There are many reasons that lead me to this theory. Due to the book saying, “He never let on to Mom and Dad how he felt, though, because we never had enough money and usually we had a hard time making ends meet”(Hinton dig. 35). This leads me to think that they were in poverty in some level even with their parents.…
