South Park Persuasive Speech

Improved Essays
I am writing to you today out of extreme concern to be honest, and with deep unease for the youth of this generation. In regard to your show, ‘South Park’ - I find that this show and its influence have an absolutely toxic effect on not only our children, but on everyone. I have sat down with my children and watched several episodes, so I do indeed know what I am talking about, and I am not simply relying on the opinions of others. South Park episodes are viewed in the millions, and its humor and ideas are spread worldwide. There is also no age limit to watch South Park episodes, which makes this cartoon even more dangerous. I have found that this show emphasizes on misconceptions and stereotypes about what this world is. And this is only

The funk is no place to be. A funk can come on when you’ve put on a few extra pounds in the midsection. A funk can make you stinky if you spent the entire weekend cramming for a final and skipped out on a shower. The funk can make you look like an extra in The Walking Dead when you missed a healthy eight hours of sleep. A lot of us have been there and it’s easy to get stuck in the cycle.…

I am writing to you on the basis of your new policy of “Stopping the boats”. I believe that it is highly unethical that one should restrict the access of another human being, who is displaced by means of war or poverty into the Australian border. The concerns I am raising are thematically paralleled in the Australian National Anthem “ For all who’ve come across the seas we’ve boundless plains to share”. Why must this policy dictate entry access to our nation if it is indicatively stated that we have “Boundless place to share”?…

I’m writing to you today about Donald Trump and Garry Johnson and their views on immigration. The two candidates have very valid points. Before I did any research about their views on this problem I sided with Trump by just saying get them all out. Then I read more about Garry Johnson, he changed my whole outlook on the problem of having illegal immigrants in our country. Trump wants to get all illegal immigrants out of the country.…

If the Newseum is torn down, the first amendment will not have a place to be celebrated just for itself, so there will be no place to celebrate the first American Constitutional freedom. President Trump is pressuring Congress into passing a bill that will start a project to make room for new monuments. The project will consist of tearing down monuments that the government feels are unnecessary. The project will ruin DC and the American spirit. If the bill does pass, the Newseum should definitely not be torn down since it is a reminder of what America is, it will have horrible economic effects on the country, and tearing it down will diminish the American spirit.…

Woodchucks are harmless, cute and furry little animals. I often see them sitting along side of parks in my home town. They sit along side of the road and chew on different pieces of wood, grass and shrubs. Woodchucks do not harm anything, they simply love enjoying the sun and eating through out the day. This animal lives on roots, veggies and different types of shrubs in the wild.…

According to the Suffolk Times, Shelter Island High School advisor James Bocca and senior Nicolette Frasco presented a request to see the presidential inauguration at the March 2016 Board of Education meeting. “Board of Education members approved the trip,” says the article, “...with the speculation that the students might see the inauguration of the nation’s first woman president.” However, when Donald Trump won the election in November, plans changed quickly. Their superintendent “recommended the Board of Education rescind its previous approval of the January visit and substitute a trip to Washington between May 10 and 13,” the article says. In the superintendent’s words, there was “no reason” to put students “in a position where anything…

In a two part series named The Cartoon Wars, the writers of South Park go after the question of freedom of speech and censorship on television. In Part 1, there is a national concern that a Family Guy episode featuring an image of Mohammed should not be broadcast. Family Guy is another animated TV show that the writers are trying to poke fun at. In the episode, Family Guy is aired on Fox Network and in Part 1 of the series, the network censors the image of Mohammed. “Family Guy is known to be an incredibly random show, packed with obscure cultural references, and replete with jokes that have nothing to do with the immediate situation” (Weinstock).…
