In Portland, Oregon, Los Angeles, California, New York City, Miami, Florida, Austin, Texas, Richmond, Virginia, Boston, Philadelphia, and numerous other places such as been the cry of many Americans in protests, that have sometimes turned violent, since the election of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States.

The Right to Free Speech

The protesters have a right to their opinions and the freedom of speech to express any opinions they want, as long as they are not violent. This is one major political issue that needs to be resolved, however, peacefully: it's time, like him or not, to accept the election of Donald Trump as President

Some protestors burned American flags. In Oakland, protestors burned trash and tires. Windows were smashed at five businesses.

A Different Kind of Reaction

President Obama, and his wife, Michelle, are among a group of politicians and others who have not condoned the violent protests. The president said "the people have spoken." "Donald Trump will be the next president, the 45th President of the United States."

He said even though some disagree with the results of the November election, "that's how democracy works."

Michelle Obama said she wasn't one of the ones who stayed up late to see the results of the election, because she knew it was in the hands of the American people. Even though she made passionate speeches on Hillary Clinton's behalf, she also said this is how democracy works. She added her husband was willing to work with Trump to help his transition to power.

As many know, Hollywood had some of the most vocal opponents of Trump, with some calling him a racists and other demagoguery names. Even many there are now saying Americans should accept the results of the election and support
