Garry Johnson Persuasive Speech

Improved Essays
I’m writing to you today about Donald Trump and Garry Johnson and their views on immigration. The two candidates have very valid points. Before I did any research about their views on this problem I sided with Trump by just saying get them all out. Then I read more about Garry Johnson, he changed my whole outlook on the problem of having illegal immigrants in our country.

Trump wants to get all illegal immigrants out of the country. But one may ask “How do you expect to get every single illegal to go back to their home country?” His only response to this could be is to build the 10-foot wall. Johnson said “A 10-foot wall just requires an 11-foot ladder.” this does say a lot because people will do anything to be in the United States. Trump wants people to come into our country, he wants to bring people in but all he wants is to be able to do it legally.

He wants them to come into our country if they are willing to get a work visa and in order to do that it would include a background check and a Social Security Number in order to get the taxes paid. However anyone can go buy a Social Security Number off of the streets, this is why we would do a background check on them first. Everything Johnson wants to do he has a backup plan if it does not succeed. He states that 50 years ago Mexican families illegally immigrated over to New Mexico to make better living or just to work which is not bad, however when their children having children and those children having children and for the most part they work hard to provide for their family. Trump only thinks about the immigrants that are “working” here for an example the

If an immigrant has chosen to come to America they have a certain amount of time to become a citizen of the United States. The border is supposed to reduce illegal immigrants and not keep allowing immigrants to stay in America without a United States citizenship. Minorities should feel privileged to come to the United States, they are getting away from their problems in their home country and coming to a country that is free and more privileged. However, some might take advantage of America and think they do not have to obey the laws here in America. Many fear this idea may be true because the U.S. population, of people who can vote, is for Trump. Johnson also stated in his speech that he had his own immigration reform idea called the Comprehensive, Common Sense reform; this reform is like the S.744 bill, granting 11.5 million people citizenship and making changes to secure the border further. He believes that putting more money into border security will help lower the percentage of illegal immigrant’s crossing over into the country. Both Conservatives and Liberals want to have a secure border and to protect our country, but the problem is whether putting more money into border security will actually make a difference. In a debate over border security, Melysa Sperber stated her opinion about it saying, “Border controls have not proven effective at discouraging unauthorized flows. New efforts to enhance the border fence and to implement other barriers along the border would be costly, ineffective, and increase the vulnerability and victimization of border crossers” (Sperber 144).…

In this world, our society faces many struggles that they cannot handle. Donald Trump becoming president would be a downfall of the people that’s already struggling today, such as marriage rights, abortions, financial, and a lot more other situations. There are many books and films that talks about a situation like Trump becoming president and what could happen if he does. A world in which a man like Donald Trump can be considered president is defective because we have already been warned from books such as Fahrenheit 451 which is about a fireman who burns books and starts fires rather than putting them out. It’s related to my topic because once Donald Trump gets going, he won’t stop till he gets what he wants.…

Explicitly, Trump’s tweet in its current arrangement appears to be a disjunctive/hypothetical syllogism hybrid: P1: We, as a country, either have borders or we don 't. C : If we don 't have borders, we don 't have a country. Being charitable and filling in implicit premises, Trump’s argument takes on the following format: P1: All countries have borders P2:…
