a. Socrates tries to give physical examples of things that the gods would generally be thought of to do.
i. He is a teacher and therefore seeks to find further knowledge about things.
1. Inquiry into things that the gods are generally a part of was not what was supposed to happen.
2. Socrates was not the only one to do this, rather Anaxagoras is another example that is brought up. He was having all the blame laid upon him, rather than all the intellectuals (26d).

Denies the Gods
a. Socrates denies this by stating that “. . . I do believe in daimonia according to your speech. . . But if I believe in daimonia, then surely there is also great necessity that I believe in daimons (27c).
i. He is denying this aligation against him as daimons are the children of gods, the argument that he is making is that if he believes in daimons than he believes in a form of gods as well.
4. Corrupts the Youth
a. “Does it seem to you to be so also concerning horses?” (25b)
i. Socrates in this statement uses the argument that equestrians who take care of horses are good at their job and are the only ones who can do this job. They are the only ones who truly understand the horses, therefore if this is the case why are students not different?
1. One teacher may be able to make a difference to those students and expand their mind in ways that may not have otherwise been possible.
Why is Socrates responding in this way? Socrates is providing many different versions of his defense due to the fact that he is creating a solid argument as to why he is not guilty. He is using his skills of persuasion in order to convince those who are convicting him that he in fact has not done what they say he has. All of the things that he is accusing him of are things that require wisdom and knowledge that those who accused him did not have.
