Inappropriately using social media is a huge deal. If an employee is on the internet sharing, posting, or even liking something inappropriate, that breaks work guidelines. Types of internet abuse that the employees are performing are, “cybersexual Internet abuse, online friendship/relationship abuse, Internet activity abuse, online information abuse, criminal Internet abuse, and miscellaneous Internet abuse “(Griffiths 3). “Criminal Internet abuse involves seeking out individuals who then become victims of sexually related Internet crime (e.g., online sexual harassment, "cyberstalking," pedophilic "grooming" of children) “(Griffiths 3). Posting or even liking sexual or illegal activity while the employee is outside of the work facility is still a problem. If a customer sees something an employee has liked, shared, or posted, it may cause them to report the employee, or just stop dealing with the work facility all together. When a person is applying for a job they have to understand all of the guidelines. Another thing, employees must think about their actions before proceeding to do them. Employees may think that just because they are out of the work facility they can do, or say whatever.
