In “Why Asking For a Job Applicant’s Facebook Password is Fair” by Alfred Edmond, discusses a major topic that is happening almost everywhere applicants are being hired. Should the people hiring have the right to ask for the applicant password in order to be consider as a new hire. He provides evidence to both side, but strongly agrees with the side the allows company to ask for people's passwords. It was not long ago when this type of practice was happening during the hire process. When congress failed to pass legislation that would banned the practice of employers asking employees to reveal their facebook passwords that was the moment that the question became a hot topic. Edmond is arguing that companies should be allowed to ask for your facebook password. He provides evidence for both cases even though he agrees …show more content…
Whether people want to believe it there have been real cases where people have been fire because of what they pose on their facebook profile. According to Linda Price a writer for People Celebrity, there has been many cases where people have been fired from their jobs because of what they post on their facebook profile. Price goes on to give stories of situation where people have gotten fire because of their post. One example she uses is about “ A prospective employee at the company I work for had just passed his interview, and was told that all he needs to do is pass a drug test and a physical and he would start on Monday. Someone found the new hire on Facebook and the guy had just posted 20 minutes after the interview, ‘S—! Anyone know how to pass a drug test in 24 hours?! (Price).” This story may not exactly fit Edmond argument, but it does give an example of how people know a days post everything online. If employers are able to check the candidate's profile it can very well give clues and hints of what kind of an employee they are considering
