Snowden deserves protection as a whistleblower due to the fact that he did complain to higher authorities prior to his actions. And with that disatisfaction from no willing progress to be made he took matters into his own hands. That course of action might have not been the best decision legalwise, however; he did believe he was protected under the whistleblower act. The information the government claims to have against him is insuperior/invalid/inferior, Besides violating confidentiality Snowden used his resources as a government employee to report a violation of privacy. By the U.S government pursuing this case, makes it seem like they are covering their mistakes. Furthermore, if the government was invading privacy like this and not telling people, what else could be occurring. With the government trying to push a blame on Snowden it makes them seem almost hypocritical. Why does the government, including unelected officials, have the authority to spy into civilian life with no repercussion. But when someone else, such as Snowden, acts out they automatically persecute him with no fair trial and accuse him of being a spy.
