Recently, while out to dinner with friends, one of my friends pointed out that we were all playing with our smartphones. I looked around the restaurant and at almost every table I observed at least one person with a smartphone in hand. The current school of thought seems to be that smartphones are eroding communication between people. Smartphones have not only made communicating with people more convenient, but also have opened up avenues of communication for people that had limited ways they could communicate.
Smartphones are helping people stay in closer contact than they were previously able to, and this is due to more frequent contacts through social networks and text messages. The ways to get in touch with friends and family have increased dramatically through social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Skype. Smartphone applications bring all of these social media sites and many more to its mobile platforms. Now you can access these social media sites from anywhere you can use your phone, which allows you to send a message via Facebook or to video call someone through Skype.
