eHarmony is a website that was produced to meet single individuals to potentially start a relationship that turn into marriages. In this case, it identifies that prior to eHarmony there were marriage markets that acknowledged prearranged marriage and relationships; the question is, how this ties into eHarmony’s concept? To begin, the idea of marriage even before the 1920’s was to procreate as well as maintain responsibilities as a male or female. It was also to be one of the earliest ages men and women would be getting married. In modern society, these roles have significantly changed. The case mentions that, “In 1890, men married at a median age of 26, while women typically married at 22. By 2004 the age had increased to 27 for men and 26 …show more content…
Match is one of eHarmony’s biggest participant within the online dating market and is continuing to cultivate as fast as eHarmony and spending just as much on advertising, which has increased revenue to about $185 million (12, Harvard). Since eHarmony’s success, Waldorf realized that there had needed a change for the company in order to stay ahead of their competitors. Waldorf came up with four different options, in which only one or two could have been implemented for the company’s success. In my opinion option four seems to fit best for creating more a competitive advantage for eHarmony. Waldorf describes the concept of expanding to different geographical areas, towards the European Union. Although, eHarmony already has is the matching algorithm for particular individuals, this creates a competitive advantage among their competitors because now people in different geographical areas can match themselves with other individuals within their particular area as well. Despite the limited resources eHarmony has it would be interesting which option would be chosen for a profitable
