David Burnett in his article “Students should have the right to carry guns on college campuses,” states that students and professors have the right to carry concealed guns in college campuses. The right of concealed carry should be allow to license individuals, so when faced with a criminal they can defend themselves. He argues that “gun-free zones colleges only serves to protect killers by ensuring they will face no resistance” (Burnett). On the other hand, Dickerson, the author of “Students should not be allowed to Carry Guns on College Campuses,” claims that allowing guns in colleges will only increase violence because the average college student lacks the maturity to make the right judgment when faced with a stressful situation. He claims that there is not enough evidence that concealed carry gun policies will decrease crime. The best way to keep colleges safes is by banning guns in college because universities are sensitive places.
