Carissa Gipson Finally we found some trees and wherever there’s trees there’s water. We got out of the car and I could tell that my baby Gina wasn't doing so well. It felt like every step was draining the life out of us but I didn’t want to die so when Jenny fell to the ground with exhaustion, I helped her up but she was almost burnt by the ground.…
I am reading “The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant” by W. D. Wetherelle, and I am on page 6. This book is about a boy who has a major crush on a girl named Sheila. They end up going on a date, but the boy catches a fish on his fishing line while on their way to the venue. Because of this, he can’t decide between letting go of the fish and keeping the girl, or keeping fish and ending his chances with Sheila. In this paper I will be questioning and connecting.…
Profile: Heather Berry Heather Berry is a woman of faith, she is a Baptist and is a preschool teacher at Providence Baptist Church, of which seventy-five children are enrolled. Prayer is definitely an aspect of her faith that affects her everyday life, she believes that taking her prayers to god no matter how big or small is very important and that even if prayers are not answered in the way or timeframe she wants, God's timing is always perfect. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. "Philippians 4:6.…
What if you discovered that a loved one was a serial killer? We’ll that’s what happened to 17 year old Bonnie Stevens. Bonnie thought that she had a completely normal life until she found something that would change her forever. She found a book sitting on the kitchen table.…
I saw Sheila Brown today. She continued to exhibit paranoia and delusion. Despite her acknowledgement of ‘feeling slightly out of whack’, she was adamant that her suspicion on both of your intentions and manners were real and unrelated to her psychotic symptom. She was specifically fixated on Kimberly’s ways of talking. What concern me the most is her statement about not being hesitate to fight if anyone, including the staff, continues to disrespect her.…
It took the men seventeen minutes to realize that I was following them. I had removed my shoes and was creeping silently along the forest floor, pausing when they did and moving at their pace. The men had arrows knocked as they stalked their way through the forest, following the tracks of a deer. I, however, was on another venture entirely.…
"A drive to do big things" landed Sheila Dilley in Berklee, where she ended up juggling the full load of a Music Business degree, newly married life, and assisting the President of Berklee himself - with the same radiant joy and enthusiasm for people she exudes as I sit in front of her today. Photo Credit: Alexandria Marie Clark Photo Credit: Alexandria Marie Clark For Sheila and her husband Jef, both currently based in Seattle, music continues to be their "number one dream". And if there is anything that can be said about Sheila and Jef, it is that they are dreamers. And they are just as ambitious and zealous as they are in loving and serving people as they are with their music. "Our ultimate goal is to financially support people," Sheila…
Saving Society Tumultuously, Diana Moon Glampers burst into the auditorium. As she irately evaluated the room, her eyes met Harrison’s. The look of pure defiance that was revealed through Harrison’s eyes enraged her. “Stop the music,” she demanded fiercely. Their music remained audible.…
A feeling of desperation and lonesomeness, coming to the realization that you would do anything and everything with all of your mental and physical power to fit in. Including changing everything that makes you who you are. Being a “Stranger in the village” is difficult to endure, and some people are not capable of handling the desolation. When moving from state to state, it’s understandable that one might feel alone, but in most circumstances after spending sometime in a new place, a person will begin to befriend new people and separating themselves from others. Most certainly that does not always happen, and in those situations is where the real problem comes to life.…
Wow! I can’t believe Hana and I had finally graduated and in a few months we’ll all be cured! On The Fourth of July I go over to Hana’s house to celebrate our tradition of watching the fireworks together. As i enter her house, I hear loud and forbidden music blasting out of Hana’s room. Once I entered her room, Hana confessed to me that, she is listening to illegal music and attending a party past her curfew with boys.…
Melinda begins high school as an outcast. She has no one to sit beside, no one to match class schedules with, and no one to eat with. "I don't know Fal's, he's had a screw loose ever since he became a vamp. My best guess is that some people handle immortality better than others and he was damn wrecked when he heard you were dead. " I was trying to make it not seem so bad what he'd done but it freaked me out and I'd seen a lot of screwed up shit so yeah, it fucking bad.…
The relationship between father and son is something complex and fragile. It is generally built from childhood, a very tender point in life, and in some cases the father chooses to shirk his responsibilities rather than be an active presence in their child’s life. This is an incredibly popular topic in all facets of media, and is the subject of “All Over but the Shoutin”, by Rick Bragg. The narrator’s feelings in the piece are quite obviously complicated, and the reader sees him grapple with them and, in the end, come out of it more confused than when he started. This memoir explores the legacy of childhood animosity, and how that animosity can be a burden all the way into adulthood and trying to forgive and forget is much easier said than…
The author of the brilliant story, “Charles”, uses foreshadowing to create an unforgettable experience for the reader as the true identity of Charles is slowly unveiled. For this reason, there are several factors that promote the reader to learn the true identity of Charles. The first factor that helps the reader determine Charles’s true identity is through Laurie’s need to think of who Charles is. This course of action would cause the reader to question, if Laurie is actually telling the truth; consequently, the reader would conclude that Laurie could be lying and that Charles may not exist. Furthermore, the reader is impacted to learn Charles’s true identity through Laurie’s dad asking what Charles’s other name was.…
Today I am going to talk, in very abridged form, a little bit about my experience of getting to know the amazing person who goes by the name of Cecilia Bernard, and what I have learned about her over the past three years of knowing her, which was both a fortunate and unfortunate event. Fortunate, obviously, because I got to meet her and see everything great about her. Unfortunate, though, as it took me as long as it did to meet her. What I first learned about her is that she was very open and inviting. I found this out on the way to New Orleans.…
