It took the men seventeen minutes to realize that I was following them. I had removed my shoes and was creeping silently along the forest floor, pausing when they did and moving at their pace.
The men had arrows knocked as they stalked their way through the forest, following the tracks of a deer. I, however, was on another venture entirely.
They paused suddenly, and I almost collided with a tree. Crouching on my toes, I looked around and soon saw the object of their attention. A young buck with huge velvety antlers was grazing, and the men made gestures to each other, trying to keep silent as they knocked their arrows and took aim.
This hunt, however, wasn’t a necessity for the village; we weren’t starving at the moment. Instead, the party

Steeling my nerves, I began to march, keeping my eyes fixed on the tree line.
Everyone noticed, and they all knew what it meant. However, to their eternal credit, nobody jeered or laughed. They had done that plenty the first time, though, and the second.
Lya jogged up to join me when I was almost halfway past the field. “How did you get caught?”
“I snapped a twig. A child’s mistake.”
Lya laughed. “And now you look the part.”
“I’m absolutely dying of laughter.”
Lya shrugged. “What can you do? Oh, and your embroidery is very nice. It is adequate payment. I have already completed all of your weeding.” I glanced over Lya’s shoulder. “One of your cows is straying.” It was true; the black heifer belonging to Lya’s family was currently beginning a barrage on another family’s patch of vegetables.
Lya cursed. “We will continue this discussion later.” She sprinted off, intercepting the beast before she reached the potato sprouts.
I chuckled, marching off into the tree line. Relieved, I made sure to glance around before I began to hum quietly to myself, making sure that I wouldn’t have to

The Adrenaline that a hunter feels being in the top of a tree stand waiting for the perfect deer to hunt is absolutely incredible, however hunters are not always lucky enough to find their prey. My dad and I began going around the ranch a day before we went hunting, we looked around to see where the biggest deer’s were located. We tested and align the rifles, to leave everything prepared to go hunting the following day at dawn. We were very positive that we were going to be lucky enough to hunt a big trophy deer, tough the results we had were never crossed our minds.…

Bimba breezed through the thick morning mist clinging to the Desolate Forest as quietly as a whisper. The light filtering through the narrow end of the valley made the fog look like iridescent cotton candy. Heavy drops of rain splashing on the dark green foliage sparkled, giving them the appearance of emeralds nestled in clouds of soft Egyptian cotton. Bimba maneuvered so the sun was behind him, shining in the eyes of the interlopers as they emerged into the small clearing. They could not see him watching their every move from beneath the lianas and ferns cloaked by the thick mist.…

It was a cold bitter night on the 1st of December in 2012. I decided to try out a new hunting spot for the first time. I knew that it was going to be much colder because i did not have any walls around me to protect me from the brutally cold wind. The temperature gauge read a bone chilling 5 degrees, and i knew that it was only going to get worse as the day came to an end. I made sure to wear extra clothes and to dress in layers for the long five hours that I have ahead of me sitting up against a tree.…

Deer hunting is a great sport I love the excitement and the rush that you get from an animal. I am always looking to improve on techniques for being quiet when the deer are approaching my stand I like to stand when a deer is coming than sitting down because it gives me more room and I can pull my bow a lot easier than sitting down. But some hunters like to sit down so they don’t scare the deer away, but I think it’s more of a challenge to do. As a deer hunter there is a right time and a wrong time for standing up when you are in an treestand like for one reason it’s a risky maneuver when you are trying not to spook a deer when standing up.…

As I waited for them, I finished sharpening my arrows in preparation for the hunt. “A deer would be nice” I said to myself, as I always love surprising the tenants of my palace with a dinner I had hunted for earlier in the day. Once my men were ready, we left for the forest that surrounds the kingdom. When I hunt with my men, we normally use the strategy of cornering the prey, and then delivering a fatal blow with a well placed arrow. Not to brag, but I have been brushing up on my horseback archery lately.…

My First Deer One brisk 30 degree day in January, when I was nine years old, was a day for which I was extremely excited. My dad got me out of school earlier that day, so we could go deer hunting. I had already shot a turkey the year before, so guns were nothing new to me. We made a quick stop at my house so that we could pick up the .243 youth edition, a really short barreled .243, that my dad had bought just about a month before so that we could go hunting, and I would actually be able to handle the gun. At this point we did not have the hunting land that we do today, so we went to my grandpa’s house and hunted in the clearing of trees behind his house.…
