Over sexualization of women’s bodies started when the church took control and deemed depictions of classical Greece or other historical scenes as soft-core porn (Schomburg 1). Before then women were painted and sculpted naked. When the church took over, breasts represented desire, but before then it represented fertility. “As for nudity eluded to in a more sexual manner, the female breast in general is sexualized in Song of Solomon 7:3 and Proverbs 5:19” ("Nudity in Religion," n.d., para. 4). The over sexualization of women’s bodies was due to religion. Males’ bodies were not as sexualized as the women’s though. It doesn’t matter the movie rating or what the film is about, a woman’s body is always made to be noticeable. By that writers, directors, etc. make sure that the woman’s curves are defined and that she has some sort of cleavage. Sometimes, those things need to be done because of how the character is. For example, in cartoons they make sure to define the woman’s breasts and curves to show that she is a grown woman. The same thing happens with men. In the media, they have the men shirtless while trying to show their muscle definition as well as having them wear tight pants so their genitalia is noticeable. If anything, men and women are both seen as sex
