The current dynamic of Seattle is similar to many other cities, but a little different because of where the city is located. In the dead center of Seattle, there are many offices, as well as many commercial areas. Manufacturing areas thinly surround the center of the city, but most of the bulk of the manufacturing is to the south of the city, bordering the rivers. Finally, the residential areas are very widely spread out from the center of the city, covering most of the Seattle area. Some small commercial spots are dotted around the residential areas for retail and commercial stores, but nothing major like the center of the city. …show more content…
Because of this, the city is forced to use many bridges and use long roads around the water. Almost all the people in Seattle use their own cars, with almost no public transportation. Since Seattle is basically a city on the water, it had difficulty at first spreading outward. Because of this, the city had to build up more than out. Today, this is not as bad of a problem with current technology. Currently, Seattle is planning to reorganize former industrial areas to allow a mix of residential, commercial, and office uses in one area.
