Students need at least 8 hours of sleep each night. Many teens have been working late at their jobs, doing their homework for half the night, or spending their night at Driver’s Education working towards their driver’s license. Students are more alert and focused when getting the right amount of sleep each night. Students can focus more on their teacher’s lessons, comprehending the material. When at a 7:00 a.m. start time, many students are zoned out or even falling asleep in their morning classes. 20% of teens have confessed to dozing off in the middle of class (“High Schools Starting Later.”) If students are waking and engaging into the lessons, their homework and test grades will improve greater. Researchers have studied more than 9,000 high school students and found that shifting the school day later in the morning concluded in a rise in attendance, test scores, and better grades in the core subjects. Students will improve better in school if the school day is later in the
