Routine activity theory goes with this case because the victim’s routine to going to her destination obviously not as safe as they thought. It is possible to attacker watched her take the same route constantly and found the perfect moment to attack. The victim was by themselves which left an absence of a capable guardian. Also, the victim was seen as a suitable target because even though unidentified you can infer that the victim was shorter and weighed a lot less than the attacker which puts the victim on the very short side because the attacker was a fairly small height for a male. Finally, the motivation of the offender was to attack the victim just to attack with possibly no other goal in mind.
