Her mother rarely has time to meaningfully interact with Rosey and she visits her biological father on the weekends. Her family life appears unstable. She has been showing signs of lack of adequate nutrition and well as basic tooth hygiene and care. Poor dental health can lead to complications for her still developing adult teeth. Malnutrition can lead to deficiencies in cognitive performance, speech and language apprehension, and overall physical growth.
Rosey should be starting Piaget’s second stage of development, where she is playing with others more via imaginative play and expanding on language apprehension. In order to expand Rosey’s use of language I would recommend adhering to some of the guideline set by Vygotsky and Douthit. I would provide activities for Rosey and Carla that revolve around around language development that center around scaffolding and zone of proximate development. I would recommend to Carla that she explore parental workshops or groups centering on providing adequate childcare while being a single mother.
Following the Ecological Systems Theory I would also recommend that Carla looks examines her family dynamic. According to this theory, the environment has great influences on the client’s development. Rosey’s micro system appears somewhat dysfunctional. I also recommend that Carla engages in play therapy with Rosey to develop behaviors and skills that can support her social
