I didn’t think I was raising Gemma the right way however, the examiner stated that I was doing a great job and to keep doing what I was doing. The examiner thought that Gemma would adapt well to the preschool environment seeing that Gemma got along very well with the kids, and was unusually cooperative for her age. I found this most suprising because when Gemma was around 15 months old, she did not want me to leave her at the daycare. Seeing this at an early age, I would have thought Gemma would not be as social as she is. The examiner also commented that Gemma had some difficulty concentrating for more than a few minutes on any one activity. She noted that it could be the newness of the situation that prompted this. I was surprised by this because Gemma usually is interested in one object or toy for a quite a long time. I think the fact that babies’ motor achievements have a powerful effect on their social relationships (183) has helped Gemma become very social.
