In this paper we will see how physics plays a role in the sport of soccer. In this paper I will be using five different references : the science classroom, real world physics problems, soccer mania, soccer ball world, and stmarys-ca.edu. Physics is the study of matter and its motion through space and time, it is a big role in soccer , soccer uses Newton’s first , second, and third laws of motion.Magnu effect is also a role in soccer this is when the ball curves to a certain direction opposite of its spin. The projectile motion is also a concept in soccer that is really not actually thought of. In general everything in soccer has a concept involving physics behind it even though it is not realized when being played.

The Physics Behind the Sport of Soccer

Soccer is a sport that is played worldwide, it involves 11 players. Out of the 11 players one is the goalie who protects the goal from the opponents and the rest of the players are on the field. Projectile motion is basically a linear path the object will go in when force acts on the object in this case the force would be the foot kicking the ball. When the ball is kicked up with the force to go over the opponents head this will form an upside parabola shaped arch. When the ball hits its highest point , which is the max point, the velocity is zero and then the ball starts to descend back down this is due to gravity acting on the ball , by this point there will be a player waiting to catch it with their body.
