Thirdly, are the different forms of communication of the discourse community of soccer. There are plenty of ways that the soccer players and the fans communicate with each other. For example, during a soccer game, the players are yelling at each other or using hand gestures. Soccer has a handful of terms that outsiders may not understand like dribbling, feinting, FIFA, penalty kick, and in Spanish the term tacos. Each of these terms has its own meaning in soccer that may confuse those who are not part of the soccer community and may be hard for them to follow the game. They are also important when talking to other fans so they can talk about the game. Now looking at the terms first, there is dribbling which is the player touching the ball with his or her feet to control the ball. The second term is feinting, or fake was the player fools the opponent to where they will kick the ball. The acronym FIFA may be one of the most important soccer terms which, stands for Fédération Internationale de Football Association they are the ones who host the world cup and make the rules for the game. The next term is penalty kick which, is where the player gets a free kick about 11 meters away from the other team's goal. The last term is tacos in Spanish which refers to the soccer cleats the shoes used to play soccer.
Finally, for an outsider to be able to join the soccer community they would have to learn the soccer jargon to keep up during games especially if they are trying to be a soccer player. If they don't understand what’s going on, how can they play or enjoy the game. The person would also have to know some techniques like dribbling, or the basic kicks to play a game of soccer.
